// UEFA Nations League Finals
The inaugural UEFA Nations League Finals is a knockout tournament that takes place in June 2019, involving the four group winners of the top-ranked League A: Portugal (who will host the event), England, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The event will take place in Porto and Guimarães.
// NOS Primavera Sound
Porto will host, between 6 and 8 June, the 8th edition of the NOS Primavera Sound. This music festival will be headed by the R&B and soul divas, Solange and Erykah Badu, as well as the colombian J Balvin. It will have a total of 70 artists and bands, including Courtney Barnett, James Blake, Jarvis Cocker, the hip-hop of Danny Brown and Kate Tempest, the brazilian pop legend Jorge Ben Jor and the electronic duo Modeselektor, as well as the tecno artist Nina Kraviz and many more.
// Banksy´s Dismaland and Others Exhibition
at Alfândega do Porto
Alfândega do Porto welcomes from January 19 to July 28, “Banksy´s Dismaland and Others Exhibition, by Barry Cawston”. The exhibition is a powerful celebration of the 25 years of Banksys work, integrating 44 photos of the iconic “Dismaland Project” (2015), as well as “Walled Off Hotel” (2017) and “Flower Thrower” (2005).
// Human Body – The Science of Life Exhibition
at Alfândega do Porto
The international exhibition “Corpo Humano – A Ciência da Vida” [Human Body – The Science of Life] has been visited by millions worldwide and is now in display in Alfândega do Porto. It takes the visitor to know inside and outside the functioning of the body, promoting the adoption of healthier habits.
// Exposition Joana Vasconcelos – I’m Your Mirror
This exhibition presents more than 30 works made from 1997 until now, covering two decades of art practice and assessing her whole development as an artist. It includes many of her best known works like Cama Valium [Valium Bed] (1998), A noiva, Burka (2002), Coração independente vermelho [Red independent heart] (2005), Marilyn (2011) and Lilicoptère (2012), as well as new works made for the occasion like Finisterra, I´ll Be Your Mirror or Solitário [Solitaire] (all 2018). The exhibition continues throughout the gardens of Serralves Park with the display of several monumental outdoor sculptures. This exhibition has been organized by the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, in partnership with the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and Kunsthall Rotterdam, and has been curated by the independent curator Enrique Juncosa.
// Import | Export – Maia Contemporary Art Biennale 2019
The Maia Biennial of Contemporary Art ’19, promoted by Maia Municipal Council, takes place from 11 May to 27 July inside 16 containers spread across 7 locations in the municipality. Under the theme Import/Export — with Andreia Garcia as chief curator and the co-curatorship of Diogo Aguiar and Javier Peña Ibáñez (Architecture disciplinary axis); Luís Albuquerque Pinho and Luís Pinto Nunes (Fine Arts disciplinary axis); Sara Orsi (New Media disciplinary axis) and Vera Sacchetti (Design disciplinary axis) — the 8th edition of the Maia Biennial of Contemporary Art will host over 40 national and international artists (Germany, Spain, United States of America, Denmark, Holland, France, England, Italy, Macedonia, Switzerland, Venezuela). Featuring 24 new creations and 33 events this Biennial will offer several programme moments — book presentations, talks, happenings, performances, visits and workshops.
